Dog tags are due October 1st and are valid from the date of purchase through September 30th. All dogs within Odessa city limits are required to be licensed with the city and vaccinated against rabies. You may purchase city dog tags at City Hall. The cost is $7.00 per tag with those 65 years of age or older receiving their first dog tag free of charge. You must bring your dog’s current rabies vaccination receipt to obtain a tag.
Per city ordinance, the maximum number of dogs/cats per residence is four. Dogs are not allowed to roam and must be on a leash or within a fenced yard when outside. Adequate food, water, and shelter must always be available for any dog kept outdoors. We also recommend that dogs and cats be spayed or neutered to help reduce overpopulation.
